10 Days from Casablanca, This tour is very detailed, giving visitors an in-depth experience of the Sahara desert and an overview of the Imperial Cities. Rabat, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech will be visited, along with the remains of the ancient city of Volubilis.
We will then travel through the Atlas Mountains to the desert, where we will have unique experiences: the spectacular dunes of Erg Chebbi, Gnawa music in the town of Khamlia, camel rides, the splendor of the Saharan sunset, a night spent in a traditional tent, and Berber cuisine.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
The team will pick you up at Casablanca airport to start the 10-day Casablanca – Imperial Cities Tour and take you to your accommodation. At the appointed time, the driver will pick you up to start a short tour around the city. Including dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Casablanca – Meknes – Fez
This day begins after breakfast with a visit to Morocco’s economic capital. There you can admire the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Islamic world. The tour now continues to the imperial city of Meknes, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. City tour: Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail and Plaza Lahdim. Lunch in a typical Moroccan restaurant in this city. Continuing the day’s route, head to Volubilis, the city of the Romans, which belonged to the A.D. maps in the 4th century. Visit the archaeological site. The route continues until you reach Fez, the cultural capital of the country, where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Fez City tour
After breakfast, the tour begins with a visit to the cultural capital of Morocco with its many monuments: “Al Karaouine”, the first university in the world built in 859. The “madrassas” which are Koranic schools: the “Mederssa Bou Inania” and the “Attarin”. It also includes the famous artisans’ route and the famous souks (public markets) of Fez. Dinner and overnight in the same city.
Day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
Start the day with breakfast and then set off for the Middle Atlas Mountains. A brief stop in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. Continue on to Azrou National Park, home to the cedar forest with its peculiar inhabitants, the friendly monkeys. Follow our 10-day itinerary from Casablanca to Midelt for lunch, this town is impressive for its 1488-meter-high mountains, and Erfoud, where you take a 4×4 straight to the paradise of Merzouga, where you’ll find the endless desert dunes of Erg Chebbi. Stay in this village for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Merzouga – Khamlia – Poblados Nomadas – Merzouga desert
Breakfast and excursion into the desert on a dune tour. There will be several visits to the desert villages of the nomadic people. One of these villages is Khamlia, with a stop to enjoy the ancient music of the Gnawa. After lunch, dromedaries await us to reach the desert and contemplate the impressive magical sunset in the Erg Chebbi dunes. At the end of this long day, we will rest in an authentic Berber tent, under the beautiful starry desert sky, have a splendid dinner and stay in the tent.
Day 6: Merouga desert – Toudra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, say goodbye to the desert route and set off for the spectacular Todra Gorges (gorges of the Todgha River). After visiting the palm grove of Tinghir. The journey continues, now heading towards the High Atlas to the reddish Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight here.
Day 7: Dades Valley – Ouarzazete
After a good breakfast, start the route of the thousand Kasbahs, the name given to a tour of a series of fortresses built of adobe with crenellated towers and brick ornaments. Arrival in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Hadou – Marrakech
Breakfast and then take the route to the village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for having been the setting for several films such as Laurence of Arabia (1962), Gladiator (2000), Cleopatra and The Jewel of the Nile, among others. Continue to Marrakech via the Tiwi-N-Tichka mountain pass (2260 m above sea level), a spectacular setting. Arrival and direct transfer to your accommodation in Marrakech.
Day 9: Marrakech City tour
After breakfast, the driver will take you to your hotel/Riad to start your visits. First the Menara gardens with their magnificent pond, the Koutoubia Mosque with its splendid minaret, the Saadian tombs of the city’s founders, the Bahia Palace and the Dar Ssi Said Museum. Finally, enjoy the intoxicating atmosphere of the famous Jamaa El Fna. Dinner and overnight in the same city.
Day 10: Marrakech – Casablanca
Breakfast and departure for Casablanca, heading to the airport to catch the plane home. End of the 10-day itinerary from Casablanca – imperial cities.
