Itinerary:
Day 1: Tangier – Tetouen – City of Bleu
This 5 Days tour from Tangier and Imperial cities takes you through the mountains of the Rif and the city of Tetouen on the first day of the tour, which has been variably referred to as Little Jerusalem and the Daughter of Granada. Many Moorish and Jewish aristocracies were forced out of Andalusia during the Reconquista and resided in Tetouan.
This allowed them to grow the city. As you walk through the narrow passages of the Medinas, you will learn about the history of the construction of the Medinas.
Visit the Souks before continuing on to Chefchaouen, often known as The Blue Pear because of its blue walls. Stop along the way to enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.
The blue color of Chefchaouen dates back to the 15th century, when the Jews abandoned the city. There are a number of unique stores selling arts and crafts, as well as rooftop cafés and restaurants on both sides. You can spend the evening here relaxing, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the natural beauty.
Day 2: The Blue City – Roman Ruins – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast at your accommodation in Chefchaouen, your driver will pick you up. We then continue on to Meknes. We will pass through Ouazzan and stop along the way to enjoy the panoramic view, the beautiful landscape and the fresh air.
Our first stop will be at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Volubilis, Roman remains, which you will explore with a local guide and photograph the spectacular mosaics, monuments, arches and partially excavated columns.
Pause in Meknes, where you can visit the beautiful medina and marvel at its spectacular gates, such as Bab Mansour, a huge mosaic gate, and the immense Heri es-Souani, a complex that formerly housed stables and food warehouses.
Next, a visit to the mausoleum of the Palace of Sultan Moulay Ismael. In the late afternoon, we leave for Fes, where we will spend the night.
Day 3: Full day discovering the Medina of Fes
Your 5 Days tour from Tangier and Imperial cities will today be dedicated to getting to know the spiritual capital of Morocco with a native guide. You will meet your local guide after breakfast and begin your visit to the old medina from the outside, admiring the magnificent view of the Medina from the Merenid tombs.
Continue your exploration of the neighborhood after visiting the city’s most important sites, admiring the city’s beautiful fountains, the mosaic of the Nejjarine Fountain and visiting the Medersas (Korean schools), which date back to the 13th century.
Appreciate the blue ceramics at the entrance to Bab Boujloud, the “Mellah” of the Jewish quarter, which dates back to the 14th century, the Gate of the Royal Palace and the famous mosques, including the Quaraouiyine Mosque, erected by Fatima el Fihri in 859, and the Andalusia Mosque, which dates back to 860.
You’ll then stroll through the winding alleys where you’ll find intricately woven Berber carpets and a variety of other Moroccan arts and crafts. You’ll also see traditional Moroccan handicrafts at the ceramics cooperative, the large tanneries of Chouara and the Medersa Seffarin, where metal masterpieces and other ornate architectural works of art are made. Spend the night in your riad.
Day 4: Fes – Rabat – Casablanca
After breakfast at your Riad in Fes, we’ll head to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, where we’ll see the Hassan Mosque and Tower, which were built in the 12th century but left unfinished when the Caliph died.
There, you will have the opportunity to visit the Mausoleums of the last two Moroccan monarchs, Mohammed V (died 1961) and his son Hassan II (died 1999), and you will be captivated by the delicate Moroccan sculptures and Zelig tiles. Then a stroll in the Kasbah of Oudaias.
We arrive in Casablanca, the capital of Morocco, in the late afternoon. Before heading to the hotel for the night, we’ll see the largest mosque, Hassan II, the United Nations Palace and the seafront, or what Moroccans call the Corniche.
Day 5: Casablanca – Assilah – Tangier
On the last day of the 5-day tour from Tangier, our driver will pick you up and take you to Asilah. The entire journey will be along the coast, giving you plenty of time to explore the city. Asilah is one of the most engaging, picturesque and charming towns in northern Morocco. It is a sanctuary of peace, tranquillity and inner harmony.
Stroll through its quiet streets and painted walls. Asilah is known for its annual International Cultural Festival of Asilah, Morocco, which celebrates the traditional way of life of the town’s inhabitants, as well as the art of painting, to such an extent that it has been transformed into an open-air art museum displaying many aspects of our existence.
We continue on to Tangier in the late afternoon. End of our 5 Days tour from Tangier and Imperial cities.
