During this 8 Days Desert Tour from Tangier to Marrakech, we will travel between Marrakech and Tangier, departing from the famous city of Marrakech to visit a charming Medina. This 8-day trip from tangier to the Desert will continue through the traditional Berber empire in the south of the kingdom. Along the journey from the norte to the desert, you will enjoy wonderful panoramic views of such unique hidden landscapes, such as: impressive gorges and caves of nomadic families, huge rivers and palm oases, magical valleys, the Valley of the Roses…
Itinerary:
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen
On the first day of our 8 Days Desert Tour from Tangier to Marrakech, we’ll meet you at the port or airport and drive through the Rif Mountains past the town of Tetoun to enjoy the views of the beautiful mountains until we reach Chefchaouen, one of the impressive villages at the foot of the Rif Mountains. The medina of Chefchaouen has a Spanish-style square surrounded by many art and craft stores, restaurants and rooftop cafés, where you will have lunch before continuing on our way to Fez, where we will spend the night in a Moroccan riad.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez
After breakfast at the riad, our journey will start towards Volubilis, crossing via Ouazzan and other villages of the rif, in Volubilis we will discover the Roman ruins and get to know the archaeological site of Moroccan history, after visiting the ruins, we will continue on our way to the city of Meknes, where we will take a break for lunch and stroll around the huge historic walls of the medina, Bab el Mansour and enjoy a visit to the sanctuary of Moulay Ismail. After visiting Meknes, we’ll head straight to the city of Fez, where we’ll spend the night in a riad.
Day 3: Exploring Fez
After breakfast in your riad, you will begin to discover Morocco’s oldest city by walking through its alleys. Our visit includes the gate of the Royal Palace, the Jewish headquarters, the first Mellah built in Morocco, built during the 16th century. We’ll make sure you visit all the sites of cultural and historical interest, including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, the tanneries, the Attarine museum and the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. After lunch, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fez.
Day 4: Fez – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast at your hotel, you will travel to Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud. You will travel through the seductive Tiz Ntalghamt Pass and the Ziz Valley, admiring the views of the High Atlas Plateau, notice how the landscape changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the town of Errachidia, enjoy the Berber hospitality. You will then travel through the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. You will travel on a quiet camel to spend a night in a desert camp with Berber music and sandboarding.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
We wake up early to watch the spectacular sunrise over the Sahara dunes before returning by camel to our lodge for breakfast and a shower. We will then pass through the Saghro Mountains, reach the Todra Gorge, where we will enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch and take a short walk through the gorges before arriving in the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll travel through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley is the path of a thousand kasbahs – providing countless opportunities to take some of your best photos of the trip. We’ll stop at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou for lunch, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by T-hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chiefs of the early 20th century, used to be one of his stops during his long journey from the Sahara to Marrakech. Now, the kasbah is a UNESCO heritage site. After that, we’ll change course to cross the high atlas mountains full of panoramic views and attractive Berber villages along the way until we reach Marrakech. Night in a riad in the medina.
Day 7: Exploring Marrakech
After breakfast at the riad, you can start discovering Marrakech “the red city of Morocco”. We’ll make sure you see the most important sites of historical and cultural interest, such as the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace. After lunch in a restaurant near the square, you can stroll through the souks and see hundreds of handicrafts. In the afternoon, you will have free time to visit the other parts of the city.
Day 8: Marrakech – Airport
Free time and transfer to the airport according to the flight schedule. and end of our 8 Days Desert Tour from Tangier to Marrakech.
